Maura Yates has been named a 2015 Smart Grid Pioneer for her dedication to creating a sustainable future.
HOUSTON (May 15, 2015) – Maura Yates, vice president of sustainable solutions for MP2 Energy, has been named a 2015 Smart Grid Pioneer by Smart Grid Today. Yates is one of 50 individuals recognized by the utility industry publication for advancing the field of renewable energy. She is being recognized alongside a former governor, multiple CEOs, a National Security Council director and others in 33 countries across the globe.
“MP2 is built like a virtual utility, which allows our customers to leverage the smart grid to make informed choices within ERCOT,” Yates said. “I’m honored that Smart Grid Today has recognized the hard work of not just myself, but our entire team in helping customers manage their electricity usage and demand.”
“This is an inimitable collection of interviews with the best and brightest smart grid industry stakeholders who are succeeding at tackling many of the complexities in digitizing the power distribution world, some of which could barely be imagined just a decade ago,” Smart Grid Today Editor Brett Brune said. “These leaders are creating new realities that will have lasting impacts on electric utility operations, grid reliability, renewable energy source integration, EV integration, security and economic competitiveness around the world.”
Prior to joining the MP2 team, Yates spent eight years in the regulated power markets working on everything from origination of solar deals to the design and implementation of utility customer interfacing programs. Among her many achievements, Maura previously sat on the board for the Department of Energy’s Solar Advisory Board for Codes and Standards and was selected as a delegate to Italy to advise on solar policies and best practices.
“The Smart Grid Pioneer award is well-deserved,” said MP2 Chairman and CEO Jeff Starcher. “Maura’s dedication to providing more sustainable energy solutions has helped MP2 grow into one of the leading providers of smart grid solutions.”
